Skechers (NYSE: SKX) is an American shoe company headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California, founded by LA Gear shoe company founder Robert Greenberg. After being ousted from the LA Gear board, Greenberg started Skechers in 1992 with his son as a distributor for Doc Marten. They launched their own shoe line in 1995. Skechers' early products were Doc-Marten style utility boots and suede skate shoes; the company has since diversified to include thousands of styles of casual footwear among several separately branded lines. It has also been remarketed toward women, promoted by artists such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, The Spice Girls, Ashlee Simpson, and Carrie Underwood.
